Mark Free Bending

Reducing component marking is increasingly becoming a major issue in the market place.  This is due to the use of materials such as Aluminium, pre-painted materials or highly polished Stainless Steel.

Amada offer the widest range of Mark Free Toolings. It doesn't matter if you need small V dies, large V dies , pads or even protection accessories Amada is experienced to help you to reduce component marking dramatically and to find the perfect solution for your company.

Large Polycarbonate Dies :

Radius bending is a common operation now performed on press brakes.  However marking problems can arise on the component by the material slipping in the die or with tooling joints.

The Polycarbonate Die is specifically designed to combat these problems when performing radius bending. A radius bend can be formed with ease in the die by using either a standard radius tool or the Colour Radius Tooling.  The Polycarbonate Die has a large 70 degree angle to cope with large material spring-back.  This also helps to prevent material slippage.

There are three "V" sizes available- 32, 40 and 50mm. The Polycarbonate Die is half the weight of a standard die so ease of handling is guaranteed.

Small Polycarbonate Dies :

Up to V12 dies are available. Maximum material thickness :

stainless steel = 1,5 mm

mild steel = 2,3 mm

Polyurethane Pads :

The dies consist of a special holder with a Urethane block.  The component is formed into the Urethane block, a slight increase in machine tonnage may be required.

During a standard forming operation the bending force applied by the punch is transferred to the shoulders of the die while the component is being formed into the die, which in turn may leave marking on the component.  The phenomenon is eliminated when forming into a Polyurethane Die due to the fact that there is no 'drawing' of the material in the forming operation.

Accessories :

There are various accessories available for press brake tooling which have an dramatic effect on reducing component marking.

Marking protection strip protects the component from marking caused by the shoulder of the die.  The strip is adhesive on one side enabling ease of location on both of the shoulders of the die.  When compared to 0.3mm Urethane sheet, typical life expectancy is at least two times greater and provides the user with improved accuracy.
The Marking Protection Strip is a relatively inexpensive way of increasing productivity by reducing component finishing operations after the press brake cell.
