Hemming Dies

Hemming represents the most severe case of 0° bending. Therefore it is performed in two stages:

  • prehemming, or acute prebending on 26° to 35°
  • final hemming (folding the edge of sheet metal back upon itself). The final hemming operation requires great bending force.

Amada's double deck type tooling performs 30° bending with the upper stage and hemming with the lower stage. It saves working space because work need not pile up when shifting from the first to second stage. Furthermore, it saves a considerable amount of loading and unloading time and also assures smooth production flow.

Features :

  • the upper stage dies are standard with AMANIT® to minimize the typical hemming scratches and galling
  • the upper stage dies are removable and can be replaced at calculable costs
  • all lower stage parts are made from high quality steel composed specifically for bending purposes with superior tensile strength (min 1450 N/mm˛) and best load-bearing capacity. A high degree of accurate process repeatability is possible even for high tonnage hemming operations.
